Brosnan Farms

Who are we?

The Brosnans - Mike, Yvonne, Jackie and Laura.

Yvonne is registered nurse at Tschettter & Hohm Clinic in Huron, SD. She takes the summer off to run a baler and whatever else is needed at the farm.

Mike, grew up helping and working along side his father, Walter with alfalfa and hay.

Mike was quoted as saying at the age of 12, (after spending the summer hand stacking bales in Railroad box cars that were shipped out of state), “Dad, the last thing I will do when I grow up is be in the hay business!!!” After the death of his father Walter in 1986, Mike went full time into raising alfalfa, starting in 1986 with 245 acres which has grown today to over 3500, with nearly all being alfalfa.

Jackie is in her 2nd year of college, in pre-nursing at SDSU in Brookings, SD.  She spent the last few summers running a baler, raking and driving semi in the field picking up bales.

Laura, sophomore at James Valley Christian School in Huron, SD, plays volleyball, basketball and track. She has raked hay, drove semi in field and started baling this summer until she had surgery on her wrist and left her dad a little short handed.
